Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District

Typing, like any other skill, takes practice. All students should aim to practice at least 4 times per week for 15 minutes minimum. Keyboarding skills for all students are increasingly important, as future state exams will require them to complete extended writing responses in a single sitting. It is our goal to ensure that the mechanical skills required to do so (i.e. keyboarding and familiarity with word processing programs) are not a barrier for effective and clear communication. In school we are emphasizing sitting in a chair that is at the appropriate height, sitting with good posture, and gently striking the keys without looking at the keyboard. We use Speed Skins keyboard covers at school, but it is not necessary for you to purchase one. Placing a bandana or pillowcase over the hands works quite well. If you would like to purchase a Speed Skin, they can be purchased from the Speed Skin website.
Typing Club The Practice Home lesson plan will allow you to practice the skills we have been learning in class.
Sense Lang Sixteen typing lessons. Animated keyboard layout and the typing tutor graphic hands are used to correct mis-typing by showing the right way to type for your learning and practice experience. Lessons' difficulty gradually raises as it starts from only 2 characters and ends with the entire keyboard. When the lesson ends, you can learn a lot from the practice trends: WPM, accuracy and errors distribution.
